Congratulations to Carol and Brian – Aruba Destination Wedding

We had a blast shooting the wedding of Carol and Brian last week at our favorite wedding destination – The Island of Aruba. It was a pleasure documenting the wedding of one of the coolest couples out there. Carol and Brian, thanks for treating us like your own family during your wedding week. From the snorkling trip to the wedding day, you and your family and friends became so close to us. We will never forget you guys…check out these images from their wedding day at the THE MANCHEBO BEACH RESORT & SPA.

Carol’s wedding dress sparkling under the Caribbean sun.

Gorgeous bride on her wedding day…

Love this shell stuffed with white rose petals that the flower girl is carrying…

Carol is escorted down the aisle by her two sons…

The sunset hour makes a good background light during the wedding ceremony at THE MANCHEBO BEACH RESORT & SPA.

Fun bridal party against the Aruban sunset…

And who could not resist going back to my favorite  ”trash the dress” locations…first I took them to the famous Quadiriki Caves located in ARIKOK NATIONAL PARK in Aruba. Many locals believe that these bat caves used to be a place for pirates to hide their treasures.

Then took them to get wet at the Boca Prins Beach

And in honor of Shark Month here’s a little fun, photographer Edwin Ochoa and I put together, all in the name of fun in photography…

Happy Wedding Anniversary Carelle Jade & Nelson! – Maui, Hawaii Destination Wedding

Happy Anniversary to one of my most favorite couple! We miss everything about your Hawaii wedding!

Bride and Groom: Carelle Jade and Nelson. I was introduced to Carelle Jade by one of our previous client. When we met with  Carelle Jade and Nelson, and her mother Eleanor, we all immediately clicked. We were so excited about their ideas, most especially their plan on fulfilling their dream wedding in Maui, Hawaii.

Ceremony and Reception: White Orchid Wedding Beach House, Makena, Maui, Hawaii. Nothing can beat this place for wedding location. The ceremony and reception are held next to the beach and the magnificent view of the sunset is just amazing! The black volcanic rocks blocking the giant waves near the beach house gives you a spectacular viewing experience of the beach in Maui. And of course, It’s a perfect background for any wedding shoot.

Event Planner: White Orchid Weddings. The wedding coordinators that day, Jacqueline Uilani Ishikawa and Linda Santos, were one of the best I’ve ever seen. They are so accommodating and very good in what they do. They turned the beach house into a very romantic and elegant-looking wedding venue. Kudo to you guys for making Carelle Jade and Nelson’s wedding the best!

Spa: Trudy’s Fountain of Youth. The girls went for an amazing massage and spa, the day before the wedding. Trudy’s staff are pretty amazing and very professional!

Video: Derek of Lavon Films. I introduced Derek to the bride and groom during our engagement shoot in NYC, and they got to like him. Derek is very talented videographer with a cinematography style. He also have the “photojournalistic” style that I have that’s why I love

CHECK OUT THE PHOTOS from the day…more to come in a few weeks. You will find them at

To welcome their guests, Carelle Jade and Nelson, treated everyone to a Luau dinner in the Lahaina area in Maui, Hawaii. Here’s a little something about Luau:

luau (in Hawaiianlu‘au) is a Hawaiian feast. It may feature food, such as poikalua pigpokelomi salmonopihihaupia, and beer; and entertainment, such as Hawaiian music and hula.

Before the Luau started, the k?lua pig, was dug up from the Imu (an underground oven). This way of cooking dates back from the ancient Hawaiians:

Traditionally, extremely hot volcanic (lava) rocks were placed in a hole approximately 6′ by 4′ by 3′ and the hole was lined with vegetation such as banana leaves. A salted pig was placed inside and covered with more banana leaves to preserve theheat and flavor. Then, it was covered with burlap and soil, and left to steam all day. Once removed from the imu, the pig was ready to be served.

And ofcourse, the highlight of the Luau – the gorgeous hula dancers…LOL

On the wedding day, I found some spots around the hotel that shows the beauty of Maui, while shooting detail shots for the wedding – a small waterfalls at the Makena Beach and Golf Resort.

Tatay and Nanay, escort Carelle Jade as she walks down the aisle. Tatay and Nanay (dad and mom in Filipino) are Carelle jade’s grandparents, who have a big role in raising her before she migrated to the US to join her mother when she was nine years-old.

Tatay cannot control his tears as he witnesses his baby get married.

One of the most fun wedding group I ever photographed!

Gorgeous sunset and strong winds on the beach helped create this amazing image of the bride and groom.

And the following day….we trashed the dress!…it’s actually her reception dress. =)

Getting married in Maui was a dream come true to this couple. And I thank them for choosing me to document their special day.

Iron Man 3 film set in Miami, a popular place for wedding shoots

If you have seen Iron Man 3, the scene where Tony Stark stormed the hide-out of “The Mandarin” was a scene shot at a very famous museum in Miami called VIZCAYA MUSEUM AND GARDENS. Vizcaya was the winter residence of American industrialist and billionaire James Deering from Christmas 1916 until his death in 1925. After his death, his huge estate was turned into a museum for the public to enjoy (click here to see more of the history of Vizcaya).

Not only this place is popular for many film sets, but it is also very popular for fashion and wedding photo shoots.

I’ve done a few photo shoots at the Vizcaya in Miami in the past and the experience is always unforgettable. Check out these images…

Heather and Diego’s engagement shoot at the Vizcaya Museum and Gardens. This massive structure was built in the early 1900s.

We shot their wedding at the ONE & ONLY OCEAN CLUB in Paradise Island, Bahamas. Had so much fun with this couple and their family!

Love this shot infront of the dock overlooking the Vizcaya’s Stone Barge.

Congrats to Melissa and Adam! a Puerto Rico Destination Wedding

I met Melissa and Adam at the Great Bridal Expo in New York last year. After they booked us for their Puerto Rico wedding, they treated us just like one of their close friends. They are one of the nicest people you will ever meet. And before they moved from NYC to Ohio for Melissa’s new job as a doctor, we got the chance to shoot their engagement session at Central Park in New York. Check out these images from that fun day…

Now, you have to love, love, love her engagement ring….shot here at the Strawberry Fields in Central Park in New York.

Good looking couple under the Bethesda Terrace in Central Park.

I love this shot at Strawberry Fields in Central Park. The exact location where Adam asked Melissa to marry him, was very close to this special monument…

Here’s a little something about this memorial that pays tribute to the late Beatle, John Lennon, singer, songwriter, musician and peace activist:

“John Lennon and his wife Yoko Ono lived in the Dakota Apartments adjacently located to this area of the park.  It was here, walking into his home, on December 8, 1980, that John Lennon was murdered and shot dead.

Strawberry Fields in Central Parkby mlattari

To commemorate his life, talents and memory, on March 26, 1981, City Council Member Henry J. Stern designated this area, the couple’s favorite in Central Park, as Strawberry Fields.  Named after the title of the Beatles’ song “Strawberry Fields Forever,” the teardrop shaped region was re-landscaped by the Central Park Conservancy with the help of landscape architect Bruce Kelley and a generous $1 million donation from Yoko Ono.

The iconic black and white Imagine mosaic, designed by a team of artists from the Italian city of Naples,  lies in the center of Strawberry Fields.  Named after another famous song by John Lennon, “Imagine” evokes a vision and hope for a world without strife, war and conflict. Additionally, there is a bronze plaque that lists the more than 120 countries that planted flowers and donated money for the maintenance of the area; they have also endorsed Strawberry Fields as a Garden of Peace.” (from
